Patricia Lucille Hackleman's Obituary
Patricia L. Hackleman, 87, of San Bernardino, CA, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2011, surrounded by her family, at Country Villa Hacienda in San Bernardino.
She was born in Long Beach, CA on September 8, 1923 to Avery and Edith Christensen. Growing up, she loved to swim in Los Alamitos Bay and dance at the Casino in Avalon. Patricia attended Long Beach Poly High School and the University of Redlands, where she met and later married her husband James Hackleman of Exeter, CA.
They raised three sons, one while Patricia's husband was called back into service during the Korean War. Her husband's high school teaching and coaching career took them first to Barstow, CA and then to San Bernardino, where she cheered at all basketball games her husband coached at San Bernardino and Pacific High Schools.
Patricia was active in the Junior Women's Club, Assistance League, and Les Confreres of San Bernardino. After her sons were grown, she found her second calling as a Branch Manager and then District Manager for World Book Encyclopedia.
Dearly loved by her family, many relatives, and friends, Patricia had a distinctive laugh that could be heard across a crowded room, and she enlivened any gathering.
She is survived by her husband James; sons James and wife, Lori, of Highland, CA, Chris and wife, Shirley, of Ventura, CA, and David of San Bernardino, CA; grandchildren Jaime Robbins, Brad Hackleman, Patrick Lloyd, Cory Rinker and Nichole Page; and great grandchildren Sarah and Hayden Page and Karsen Lloyd. A memorial service will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA at 10:30 am on March 19, 2011. Her remains will be scattered at sea in a private family ceremony.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Patricia’s honor to The Assistance League of San Bernardino, 580 W 6th Street, San Bernardino, CA 92410
