Orvella Mackie-Moore's Obituary
Orvella Mackie-Moore passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2013, at the age 94, after a bout of pneumonia. Orvella was born in Bellview, New Mexico, on April 15, 1919, she was the daughter of Minnie Frances (Stevens) Ridley and James K Polk Ridley. She lived in New Mexico, Texas, Oregon, Missouri, and California (most of it in the same San Bernardino house).
She was married to James Roy Mackie for forty wonderful years and later to Laney “Tex” Moore for ten years, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Benjiman and his wife Gail who reside in Sylmar, CA, and James and his wife Peggy, who reside in Cross Timbers, MO. She will be sorely missed by her 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Orvella was preceded in death by her three brothers, Vachrel Ridley, W. (Pat) Patterson Ridley and Vergil Ridley, two sisters Artie (Ridley) Ruther and Dovie (Ridley) Sharp.
Orvella was always active in the PTA as the boys were growing up and supported them in their Scouting activities. She held the office of Adah in the Order of Eastern Star for one year. She was an active member of Golden Valley Church of Christ for 50 years and loved being president of the Women’s Fellowship for three years.
Most of her working career was in some type of sales, including Tupperware, Toys, Shaklee, Pharmacies, and manager of Togs for Talls.
Orvella stated, “I am so blessed, I thank God each day!”
