Mother enjoyed visiting with all of her family, extended reatives, friends, all veterans and their causes, volunteering at the Loma Linda VAMC, and her devotion to the DAV Auxiliary, especially the local Chapter 12 where she held several leadership positions including her many years as the Adjutant. Her special memory was of her cross country trip by RV, of seeing many things along the way to see her grandaughter Kimi and her family in North Carolina where she was able to spend the week with them sharing the love she had for them. An important part was stopping at the USMC Museum where she hurried along to see the Vietnam portion and she was amazed to find the Chu Lai airfield display which her son Bill had a part in during his Vietnam tour and of the Khe Sanh display where he was also. Memories of dinner with the Zrimms, friends of her son Jack she had met several years before, of stopping in Ohio to see Cousins Lani and Don French before heading to Brazil, Indiana to spend several days with her sister-in-law Maxine Boyce and her family, plus seeing nieces Patty and Georgiann along with their family members too. Along the way home we celebrated her 87th birthday, where she said this was her best bithday ever....
My most special memory of mom is of her words to me on Thursday the 9th of Jan, when I told her how much I appreciated her allowing me to care fir her during the previous months as her caregiver, she looked up clearly saying "I Love You". This memory will stay with me forever!
