Nick Zoumbos was a perennial figure at the Veterans Success Center at CSUSB. Annually, he and his lovely wife Arlene made trips to the campus to visit with our students, to supply them with Thanksgiving baskets and graduation stoles, and sometimes just to visit.
As an army veteran of the Korean War himself, Nick knew firsthand how difficult it is to transition from military life to school. He never forgot that experience and worked diligently to ensure that subsequent generations of veterans had the support they needed to succeed in school.
Nick was a good friend to the student veterans at CSUSB. He was always so overjoyed being around students, and they enjoyed his company. He made new friends every time he visited.
Thank you for your service to our country, Nick, a service you continued with our student veterans. Your bravery, sacrifice, and strength do not go unnoticed, and we will always be indebted to you and your family for all that you have given to our country and our students. God bless you.
I'll see you on the high ground, my friend.
My condolences to Arlene and the Zoumbos family. I pray for their peace and comfort.
Respectfully,
Agustin Ramirez
Director, CSUSB Veterans Success Center
