Nicholas Andrew Kounas' Obituary
Nicholas passed away on March 16, 2024 at Veterans Hospital in Loma Linda, California
He was born to Andrew and Evelyn Kounas on August 20, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa. He served in the United States Army from August 19, 1957 to August 18, 1959 and then transferred to the Army Reserve where was honorably discharged on July 31, 1963. He married Sharon Bindenagel on August 30, 1964 and moved to California. For over 30 years, he worked at various restaurant/ bar establishments within the San Bernardino are and lived in Highland, California.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers; George, Don, Mike, and Chris as well as sisters; Nicoletta and Despina. He is survived by his wife Sharon and two sons, Nicholas Anthony (Denise) and Jason Paul (Christina). He is also survived by his grandchildren; Dayna (Josh) Salmon, Dylan Anthony Kounas and Nicholas Jason Kounas and his great-grandchildren; River and Oakley Salmon.
His surviving siblings include brother, John Kounas and sisters; Sophie Milbrodt, Catherine Sutherland, and Anna Kounas. Other surviving extended family members include: Haley Breden, the Robert Breden family, the Brandon Breden family, and Lia & Michael Papadakis.
The Trisagon Service will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel- 1299 East Highland Avenue, San Bernardino on Thursday, March 28th at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church, 1035 Inland Center Drive- San Bernardino, California at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 29th. Private entombment will be held the following week.
