I'm so sorry to learn about Nelson's passing at such a late date. I met Nelson in the early 90's when I joined Nautilus Aerobics Plus on Highland Ave. in San Bernardino. He was the absolute kindest, friendliest, positive, and respectful man! When that gym closed, we all moved over to the Bally Total Fitness on Hospitality Lane, where he continued to be one of the daily regulars. After my neck was broken in a car accident in 2005, he sent cards with little jokes to lift my spirits. We spoke on the phone once or twice, and he encouraged me to stay positive. I'm saddened to say that I never got back into regular gym workouts after recovering, so I never got to see Nelson again. Something made me think of that old gym crew today, and I wondered if I could find a trace of Nelson online. I was sure he would live to be 100 because he was in such good shape!
If Nelson's family finds this note, please know that he is being thought of today. "Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories". Rest peacefully, Nelson....you made a difference in this world.

I'm deeply saddened to finally learn (7/19) of our dear Nelsons passing. I had just tried to contact him at his facility just before he died. Also, I left a message there for the family, and have reached out on Facebook. Nelson was more like an uncle than a cousin of my dear father. My mother, and our family held Nelsons character in very high regard! He was one of the true sons of old Californios. They just don't make men like Nelson and my dad, anymore! He was an enthusiastic participant in my dads shooting birthday parties in the Antelope Valley. I Believe my dad loved him more as a brother than cousin, because my dad never had brothers. On the ocaissions where he would stay overnight in his RV at my family home- he would do his morning excersices on the front lawn! He looked so young! I hope he left his body to science! I loved singing with him, and sharing the highlights of my singing career with him. He had so much love for Ellen, his children, grandchildren, my dad and all of us. I do not know what I would have done without his prayers, friendship and advice after my dads stroke. To all of the Browns, everywhere: I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

I used to go shooting with Nelson up at his and mine old friend Frank Pritchard's property near Gorman. About 8-10 people would show up at we'd all have a brbq picnic lunch then break out the shootin irons. Nelson told me a few stories of his ChiPs days as a motor officer working out of the Devore station. Nelson was a helluva nice guy and always was intersting to hear hsi points of view on politics, guns, and just life in general. My life is better from knowing Trooper Brown. RIP, Sarge.

One of the nicest people I have ever met, I had the pleasure of meeting Nelson for the first time about 20 years ago at LA Fitness (at the time known as Bally's Gym) in San Bernardino. I always enjoyed talking with him --conversations ranging from San Bernardino history and well being to Baseball to family values-- during my all- too -irregular workouts. Fortunately, I would see Nelson almost every time I would show up as he was extremely dedicated and seemingly never got off schedule. I will always fondly treasure his warm, kind and compassionate personality and the manner in which he treated others. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

In the mid to late 40's Nelson and I were neighborhood "buddies" he always protected me from the bullies in our neighbor hood he was the nicest person I have ever known lots of good memories in my childhood, so saddened to learn of his passing I remember his dad and his older brother (who I had a secret crush on) I feel so fortunate to have know this great person . Rest in peace Nelson
