Michael H. Smith's Obituary
Michael Harrison Smith was born at Kaiser Hospital in Fontana, California to Stephen and Carol Smith on November 24, 1982 and passed away May 24, 2022 at home in Hilliard, Ohio.
He grew up attending Valley Christian School in San Bernardino, California from Kindergarten through sixth grade. He attended Calvary Chapel Christian School in Redlands, California for Middle School and High School, graduating in the class of 2000.
He worked in retail before going to work full-time at Loma Linda University Hospital in the Radiology Film Library. It was during the early part of employment that he was diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis Type II (NF2), and his journey fighting this horrible genetic disorder. In 2006 he moved to Ohio to be closer to family that could help him navigate his medical appointments and needs. Since his diagnosis of NF2, Michael went through five major brain surgeries and multiple minor surgeries, each one taking some type of physical function away with complications eventually taking his life. Through it all, his faith in God remained strong and did so until his final breath.
He is survived by his parents Don and Carol (Smith) Herth, his siblings Andrew, Kirsten, and James and a multitude of family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Stephen D. Smith.
We will all miss you, Michael. Funeral service will be at The Bridge Church of the Nazarene, 9904 Bloomington Ave, Bloomington, CA 92316, Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 11:30am.
