Melba Dean Berry, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated member of the San Francisco 49ers Faithful’s, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born on January 18, 1941, in Van Buren, Arkansas, and her family embarked on a journey to San Francisco, California, in 1941, driving across the country in a Model T. In 1945, they settled in Farmersville, California, where Melba grew up and established lasting connections within the community.
Despite her petite stature, Melba stood tall in the hearts of all who knew her. At only 3 feet 10.5 inches tall, she defied expectations and exemplified strength and determination throughout her life. Her small physical presence belied her immense spirit and unwavering resolve.
In 1965, she married the love of her life, Frederick Berry, and together they shared a bond filled with love, support, and cherished memories. Their marriage lasted for over four decades until Frederick's passing in 2007.
Melba was blessed with two sons, Donald Berry and Michael Berry. She took great pride in raising them, providing unwavering guidance and support throughout their lives. Melba adored her grandsons, Christian and Cameron, sons of Donald Berry, and cherished every moment spent with them.
In addition to her love for football, Melba was an avid bowler who found immense joy on the lanes. She actively participated in numerous local, state, and national bowling tournaments, showcasing her skills and sportsmanship. Melba's passion for the sport brought her great fulfillment, and she formed lifelong bonds with fellow bowlers who shared her love for the game.
Melba is survived by her sons, Donald Berry and Michael Berry; her grandsons, Christian and Cameron Berry; and a wide circle of extended family members, friends, and fellow San Francisco 49ers Faithful’s.
