Mayre Larson Barry's Obituary
San Bernardino, CA, Educator, Mayre L. Barry, 87, passed away on Aug. 3
after a long illness. Mayre, the only child of Enid Gray Larson and Samuel J. Larson, was born on Nov. 21, 1925 in Batesville, AR. Mayre lived in AR, OK, Wash. D.C., WY, N.M., and TX, finally settling in San Bernardino, in 1961.
Mayre met Jack C. Barry when he was in the Army Air Corps flight school in Ponca City, OK. Mayre and Jack were married on Dec. 31, 1945 in Ponca City. While raising her family in San Antonio, Mayre earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Incarnate Word University in 1960 and subsequently taught math in San Bernardino Unified for 25 years.
Mayre is survived by her children (Ken Barry, JoAnn Kerrigan (Abila) and Sue Stiles), 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Mayre was generous, kind and loving and dedicated to her family and church, Immanuel Baptist of San Bernardino. Mayre loved to travel, shop, garden, read and enjoyed a spirited kitchen table discussion with her family and friends. All that knew and love her will miss Mayre.
Visitation will be Tue., Aug. 13, 2013 at 11a.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA. Graveside services will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd; Riverside, CA at 1:01 p.m., staging area #5. (arrive 15 minutes early if going directly to Riverside National Cemetery)
