Maurice Moshe Levy's Obituary
Maurice Moshe Levy left his earthly life on December 22, 2011. the fifth of thirteen children born to Aaron and Dona Abecassis Levy, Maurice was born in Safi, Morocco, March 14, 1924. After graduating from university in Morocco, he was one of three young men who passed a Hebrew exam and were allowed to immigrate to Palestine in 1945. After Israel's independence, Maurice worked for the Israeli Government in Marseilles, France, then moved to Casablanca, Morocco, where he married and began raising his family.
Returning to Israel with his family in 1961, he settle in Ashkelon where he remained until 1969, when he and his family immigrated to the United States, settling in Corona, CA, where he worked as an accountant for several companies, including Big Apple Stores and the Lockman Foundation. His greatest joy, however, was teaching Hebrew, both at Bethel Christian College in Riverside, and to the many private students who came to him not only for Hebrew, but also for French instruction.
In later years Maurice accepted Yeshua Jesus as his Messiah through the ministry of Mike Perl and was an active member of Hebrew Christian Witness.
In addition to his wife Cassie, Maurice leaves his sons, Roger and Gilbert, daughters, Marlene (Larry) Juchartz, Danielle (Scott) Simon, and Joanne Levy and grandsons Eric Juchartz, Gabriel and Jeremy Simon.
A reception will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA on Thursday December 29, 2011, 5-7 p.m. with a private burial. A celebration of Maurice's life will be held at a later date.
