MARY EMMA ROMIG's Obituary
Mary Emma Moore-Romig was born August 18, 1912 in Gainesville, Hall County Georgia. The last child of a family of seven surviving children born to Cicero Columbus Moore and Zennie Garrett Moore, both originally of Coal Mountain Georgia. The family relocated to Gainesville and resided at the C.C. Moore homeplace on Broad St in Gainesville. Mary had fond memories of growing up in Gainesville, and enjoyed the retelling and remembering of those happy times. On the second of December, 1949 she was wedded to John Richard Romig of Bethany Missouri. John was an engineer for the Missouri Portland Cement company, and the couple resided in St. Louis until 1957. That year John was recruited to the California Portland Cement Co. by Wilson Hanna, and he and Mary relocated to Rialto. In 1960 John Richard Jr. came into their lives and completed their family. The happy family enjoyed their life in California until the untimely death of John senior in 1970. Left to manage and to raise their child on her own, Mary rose to the challenge and did a magnificent job. Mary was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of San Bernardino on “D” St and various local Ladies Organizations in Colton and Rialto. Marys great love was cooking, and she donated many hours to this endeavor at the First Presbyterian Church functions. In 2007 John Jr. succumbed to lung cancer while Mary resided at The Terrace assisted living home in Grand Terrace. This was a great loss to her. On April 10, 2009 Mary went into a peaceful sleep, but unexpectedly to those around her, found her way to Jesus and did not wake up. Mary is survived here in California by Jon Marc Schwab whom she looked upon as second son, her nieces Jamie Lee Michel, Casselberry Florida, Joyce Barnes, Ellijay Georgia, Bette Moore, Madison New Jersey and Emma Jean Mckinley, Merrit Island Florida, as well as many friends and acquaintances. Mary was greatly loved and will be missed by those of us remaining, but joyfully she will now be with her two beloved Johns, parents, siblings and other family members that preceded her in death. Arrangements are made with Bobbitt Memorial 1299 E. Highland Ave, San Bernardino, CA. There will be a viewing on Wednesday April 15 from 5 to 7 pm at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel. With a memorial service on Thursday April 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 1600 “D” St in San Bernardino.
