Mary Dorothy Gers' Obituary
Mary “Dorothy” Gers entered into eternal rest on April 22, 2025 at the age of 97. Dorothy was born on September 19, 1927 to Emile Paul LaFargue Sr and Mable Agnes (nee Long) LaFargue in Mobile, Alabama. Dorothy married Walter Gers on March 8, 1953. They had six children together. They traveled the world with the military. Dorothy was a homemaker and seamstress and in her later years she spent a good deal of time crocheting scarfs and blankets for her family. She loved baking pies for the holidays.
Survived by her sons Terence (Marilyn) of Yucaipa, Irvin (Helen) of Crawfordsville, IN, Roger (Teresa) of San Bernardino, Keith (Kari) of San Bernardino, and her daughter Sandra of Highland, her grandchildren, Dorothy, Tracey, Lindsey, Katie, Misty, Jennifer, Sal, Phillip, Mallory and John and eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild plus many nieces and nephews. Also survived by her sister Elizabeth “Louise” Barrie of Rialto. In addition to her parents Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband Walt who died on December 30, 2024, her infant daughter Diane Elizabeth Gers and her brother Emile Paul LaFargue, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday May 29, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:30 PM. Chapel service will be held on May 30, 2025 at 12:00 Noon. Both services will be held at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, CA 92404. Burial services will follow at 2:00 PM at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Boulevard, Riverside, CA 92518.
