MARY JONES COLLIER's Obituary
Mary Jones Collier, 83, a resident of Highland, CA passed away on December 26th in Loma Linda, California. Born Mary Belle Jones April 16, 1923, in Washington, Louisiana to parents Mattie (Delafosse) and Easton Jones. She graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1941, before moving to Pineville, working for the Veterans Hospital, there. There, she met her husband of 61 years, Army Staff Sgt Charles W. Collier, of Stockton, CA, and was married on Feb 6, 1943, in Alexandria, LA. Following WWII, she and Charles moved to Stockton, CA, along with their 2-year-old son, Charles Jr. They settled in Oakland, CA, before moving to Fresno in 1950, where her husband was employed by the California Highway Patrol, retiring in 1973. Mary was a phone operator with the Fresno Police Department, and California Department of Health, retiring in 1982. She and her husband moved to Highland in 2004. She was preceded in death by her parents, eight sisters and brothers, and husband, Charles Sr. She is survived by her sister Bea Joubert, of Opelousas, LA, brother Irvin Lafleur of Ville Platte, LA, son Charles Jr. of Grand Terrace, CA, four grandchildren, one great-grand daughter and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, San Bernardino, CA. Graveside Service Monday, January 8, 2007 at 10:15 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA, Staging area # 2.
