Mary Ann Kounas' Obituary
Mary Ann (Pope) Kounas, 80, passed away May 9, 2022 in San Bernardino, CA. Mary Ann was born to Nick J. and Catherine L. Pope in Sioux City, IA. She graduated from Bishop Heelan Catholic High School
and Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, IA then worked at Mercy Medical Center where she met her husband, Mike A. Kounas.
After they married, they worked in New York and Connecticut before settling in San Bernardino, CA where she was a clinical laboratory technician and later Clinical Laboratory Manager at St. Bernardine Medical
Center for 33 years and Lab Quality Specialist at San Bernardino Medical Group for 10 years. Mary attended Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church for 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, in 2010 and her parents. Mary is survived by her daughters, Suzanne (J. Paul) Dainko and Stephanie Kounas; her beloved grandchildren, David, Mia, & Sean; and her brother, Fr. Nick F. Pope, S.J. of Milwaukee, WI.
Rosary & Visitation will be from 5-7 PM on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA, and Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at Our Lady of Hope, (Del Rosa) 6885 Del Rosa Avenue, San Bernardino, CA with interment immediately following at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Cemetery, Colton, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Aquinas High School in San Bernardino, CA or an organization of your
choice.
