Marvin Darrell Gemar's Obituary
Marvin D. Gemar, a resident of San Bernardino since 1974, made his transition on Wednesday, July 26, 2017. He was born July 6, 1937, in Oakes, North Dakota and graduated from Crete High School.
He joined the US Air Force in 1954 and retired in 1976 as a Master Sargent. His 22 years of service took him to many bases in TX., N.M., N.J., CA. and HI. With overseas assignments in England and Japan. As a Flight Engineer on C-130, C-124, and C-141 aircraft, he was awarded the Air Medal with Three Oak Leaf Clusters, for participation in aerial flight over South East Asia, under extremely hazardous conditions. During his air force career, he completed many college courses as well as attended many air force schools. After his military retirement, he continued to work at Norton AFB as a Civil Servant and at the commissary.
Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary and later his second wife, Yolanda; two sisters and three brothers.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Sharon Rae (David) DeLeon of Oceanside, CA, his grandson Ramon, his loving sister, Joan Roney of FL, many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Skeeter. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior.
Interment will be private at Riverside National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Arid Club 4113 N. Sierra Way, San Bernardino 92407.
