You never know when you first meet a person how important that person will become in your life. Marty was one of those people. At first, all of the easy stuff was there. The good humor, that distinctive laugh. But as you got to know him, the truly important stuff came through. You realized what a stand-up guy he was. Always generous with his time and advice. Always gracious. And if he believed in you, he was your staunchest defender.
His passing has a whole lot of us wondering what we are going to do now? So the world is a much sadder place today. But I am grateful that for however brief a time it was, I can say that Marty was my friend.
