MARIE ELEANOR BURKE's Obituary
Marie Eleanor Burke, 93, a resident of San Bernardino since 1951 died December 12, 2006 in Thousand Oaks. Born October 17, 1913 in Mitchell, South Dakota, she was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral and during earlier years was an active member of the Mother’s Club and Altar Society. She was a finalist in the Pillsbury Bake-Off in l965 and winner in the National Orange Show baking contest in l966. She was an artist and wrote the introductory poem for the Scorpion Memorial Book published by the US Navy. Survivors include her daughter Mary Hattery, son James W. Burke, daughter in law Jolene and husband Robert McGehee and their two children, sister Marcy Winn, 3 sisters in law, Rosemary and Esther Wagner, Olive Burke, 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Maurice E. Burke and son Lt. John P. Burke of the USS Scorpion. Viewing will be at 10:00Am Monday December 18, 2006 at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral 2525 N. Arrowhead Ave., San Bernardino, followed by a Mass at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Mt. View Cemetery, San Bernardino. Bobbitt Memorial Chapel is directing.
