Margaret Mary Soffa's Obituary
On Monday August 11th, Margaret Mary Soffa (nee Nichols) passed away peacefully at home in San Bernardino. She was born on Labor Day, September 5, 1935 at St. Bernardines in San Bernardino and raised in Fontana.
She taught in the San Bernardino School District for 13 years. Starting at Highland Pacific, then on to Bonnie Oehl, Richardson Prep High, which she was instrumental in writing the program for. She then continued as a Resource Teacher at Del Vallejo where she retired to enjoy traveling and her hobbies. Margaret lead an extremely full life and was very involved in the community: Junior Women’s League, The Masonic Organizations; DeMolay and Rainbow Girls where she served as Mother Advisor for 3 years and received the Grand Cross of Color.
Santa Claus Inc. kept her busy for many years as well, reaching out to companies who could donate to this most worthy cause. She volunteered at Redlands Hospital and was passionate about fundraising for the golf events benefiting St Bernardine’s and Community Hospital. As a student of CSUSB’s first graduating class, she continued to support the Coyotes throughout the years. You could always find her at basketball and volleyball games. She was also a member of St. Michael Antiochian Orthodox Church in Van Nuys. So much more could be written, yet a lot of it is found in her many photo albums, 163 to be exact.
