Marciana Baldelamar de los Reyes' Obituary
Marciana Baldelamar de los Reyes, 71 years old of Loma Linda, CA passed away on March 30, 2011 after a short, but courageous fight against lung cancer.
Originally from Camiling, Tarlac, Philippines, she lived in Loma Linda for 29 years. Shortly after graduating as a nurse from University of Santo Tomas in 1961, she migrated to Chicago, Illinois to work at Cook County Hospital and Hines VA Medical Center. She moved to Loma Linda, CA and worked at Jerry L. Pettis VA Hospital until her retirement. As a nurse, she was a manager, educator, and most of all, an advocate for every patient she touched.
Her love and passion as a nurse was a natural expression of a fundamental value she dearly held-- The heart and true art of giving and serving others. These are treasured legacies she has passed on to her family, friends, and community at large; she will truly be missed.
Marcy is survived by her sisters: Teodora Alburo, Emerenciana Bacerra, and Pacita Caylan, all of the Philippines, as well as Estella de los Reyes of San Jose, CA. She is also survived by her Sisters-in-Law Igmedia de los Reyes, Paulita de los Reyes, and Brother-in-Law Francisco Caylan. She is abundantly blessed with 10 nieces, 9 nephews, 40 great nieces and nephews, 2 great great niece and nephew , relatives, and friends.
She is preceded by her parents Victoriano de los Reyes and Juana Baldelamar; and 4 brothers Felix, Adriano, Manuel, and Pedro.
A memorial mass will be held at Holy Name of Jesus, Catholic Church (formerly Sacred Heart Church) on Olive Street in Redlands, CA on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:30am. Following the service there will be a reception at the church hall. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Lung Cancer Society in her name.
