Lomay L. Kimble's Obituary
Lomay L. Kimble was born January 5, 1927, to the proud parents of Viola Bailey and Thomas E. Bailey. She was the third child born of 11 children. Lomay joined Shady Grove Baptist Church at an early age, where she received Jesus Christ as her savior, and was baptized. She later then joined Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in West Rock, Arkansas. Lomay came to California in 1943 at the age of 16. In 1944 Lomay L. Bailey married Willie D. Kimble Sr. they were blessed with four children; Willie D. Kimble Jr., Maxine L. Kimble, Magdalene Kimble and Samuel D. Kimble. Lomay joined the Holy Temple of Faith Church under the leadership of Reverend/Mother Lois Bell. There Lomay began teaching and preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. Lomay’s first sermon is found in Matthews 6:33 “ Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” Lomay began her career in 1952 as a Nurse Attendant, for Los Angeles County General Hospital. Later, she joined Local 434 and became very active serving in the Union. Lomay was raising her family, actively involved in ministry and had a fulltime job in nursing. Yet, Lomay found the time to go back to school and graduate from the 12th grade. Lomay was ordained as a Minister at Holy Temple of Faith Church, in Los Angeles by Pastor Lois Bell. Lomay Kimble was one of six employees chosen out of the thousands, to take a training job as a Surgical Technician. In 1966 Lomay organized the Surgical Technicians Department and led them to many great victories, at Martin Luther King Jr. Hospital. She also worked as a Unit Manager Trainee, on the only burn ward at Los Angeles County USC Medical Center. Lomay retired after 26 years of excellent service for Los Angeles County Hospitals. Lomay went back to school and became a Programmer Analyst. Later, Lomay moved to San Bernardino, California, where she joined United Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, where she served faithfully until 2011.
Lomay’s husband Willie D. Kimble Sr., son Willie D. Kimble Jr. and daughter Magdalene Kimble, all preceded her in death. Lomay lived a full life of serving the Lord Jesus Christ and helping others. She was greatly loved by her family! Lomay was a gifted leader who taught others everything she learned and now they are carrying-on her legacy of excellence in service. Bailey, Richard Bailey, Clifford Bailey, Alvin Hicks Sr., Leo Hale and Roland Kercherval. And a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
