Lila Mae (Shaw) Strickler's Obituary
Lila Mae (Shaw) Strickler was born in San Bernardino in 1928 to Edna and Raymond Shaw. She passed away after a brief illness on August 7, 2014. Lila attended Lincoln Elementary and Sturges Junior High School where she was elected the school’s first female ASB President. She graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1946. She had a love of music and sang with the USO during WWII. She met and married Jack Strickler in 1948 and they started a family. She and Jack raised three children. Lila defined the term “homemaker”. She was a room mother and PTA member, a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. In short, she provided the support any family member needed.
After raising her children, she worked with her husband Jack in their real estate offices. In 1989, Jack began work on a senior citizen apartment project sponsored by Highland Lutheran Senior Housing, a non-profit group. The 50-unit project was completed in 1994. Jack and Lila served as resident managers until August, 2013.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Raymond Wilbur Shaw. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack, three children, John and (Cathi) Strickler, Ann and (Steve) Croudy and Judy and (Terry) Albert, 14 grandchildren , 29 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
