Leslie Wray Carlton Jr.'s Obituary
Leslie Wray Carlton, Jr., passed away on September 11, 2012 at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino, CA. Les was born in Richmond, VA and graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond in 1942. He joined the Virginia State Guard in 1941 and served in the US Navy from December 7, 1947 through 1957. A veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam and logged more than 9,000 hours flying time.
Les was married to Norma Ketcham in 1954, and was employed at Norton AFB from 1957 to 1960 as a radar/electronics repairman and transferred to the DOD DCASR QA as plant representative from 1960 to 1970. He served with Lear Siegler Corp. (Vietnam) 1972-1973, and returned stateside was employed by DynCorp 1973-1991 in Norco, CA. Les was a member of the American Legion Post 421 Highland, CA (12 years).
Leslie is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma; children, Lynne Carlton, Ladd Carlton, Sherri Granato, Randi Shea, Cheryl Walker, and Denise Hinshaw; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including Jerry Miller, Carol Liles and Duane Tubbs.
