LEROY J. FISCHER's Obituary
Leroy J. Fischer, 83 of Highland, CA passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in San Bernardino, CA.
He is survived by his wife Patricia of 51 years, sons, David (Nancy) FIscher of Highland, Thomas (Maria) Fischer of Highland, daughters, Catherine Fischer of Walnut, rita Brickley (Michael) of Wrightwood, Karen Fischer of San Diego, four grandchildren, Megan, Andrew, Talise, Taylon and a sister, Florence Alworth of Riverside, and Nephews, Ralph Alworth of Riverisde, Jim Alworth of Washington, John Alworth of Riverside.
He retired after 24 years from the U.S. Air Force as a Major having served during WWII and the Korean War with many missions. Upon his retirement he worked for General Telephone Company and retired after 20 plus years.
He enjoyed volunteering at St. Bernardine's Medical Center driving the TRAM helping visitors and working in the Gift Shop for the last 10 years. He considered Family first, was a strong supporter of all the kids and their activities. He liked traveling and attended many concerts and shows. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Del Rosa Council 4488 and a 4th Degree member of Fray Francisco Dumetz Assembly 0055, both of San Bernardino. He was an active ELK and a long time member of San Bernardino ELKS Lodge #836.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, September 28, 2009 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, CA. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at St. Adelaide Catholic Church, 27457 Baseline, Highland, CA with burial at 2:45 p.m.at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Staging Area #4.
