Leo M. Cutler's Obituary
Leo M. Cutler, 91, of San Bernardino , CA passed away on Friday, July 27 in Redlands . Leo was the second of five children born to Israel and Elizabeth Mishkovsky on May 28, 1921, in Knox , Indiana ,
where he grew up. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in metallurgical engineering in 1948. His education was interrupted for three years during World World II, when he served as a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. After graduating from college, he moved to Los Angeles , where he worked at Federated Metals Division of American Smelting and Refining Company. He met and married the former Gloria Gainsboro in 1951, and they moved to San Bernardino in 1959, where they owned and operated Cutler Steel Company--later HCS Cutler--for almost 50 years. He was active in a variety of community activities, including serving as president of Congregation Emanu El and as chairman of the San Bernardino United Jewish Welfare Fund. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Gloria, his children Jeffrey and Claire Cutler of Los Angeles , Roberta and Robert Klein of Redlands , his grandchildren, David and Zoe Klein, Dvora Klein, Aron Cutler, Marissa Klein, Zachary Cutler, Matthew Klein, and Molly Cutler, and his great-grandson, Max Klein. He is also survived by three sisters, Cele Steinberg of Indianapolis , Lee Katz of Boston , Bert Weinberg of Florida , one brother, Norman Cutler of Chicago, and many nieces and nephews.
