Leng Im Johnson's Obituary
The remarkable and selfless life of Leng Im Johnson (Mar 03, 1950 – April 24, 2014)
Leng always challenged herself to live a selfless life, one in which we put others before ourselves and ensure our children be gifted with both the necessities of life and the chance to achieve what can make us happy in this world.
Leng was 63 when she lost her battle with cancer, passing peacefully at her home in Moreno Valley surrounded by family, but her life’s story began as she survived the Pol Pot regime in Cambodia, risking the long journey through the Cambodian and Thailand jungles with her daughter, Chenda, for a better life for the both of them in America.
Her five surviving siblings, Sung, Robert, Bunnat, Bunna, and Sokha, all made the same brave journey, and Leng is also survived by that very daughter, now Chenda Charachuri, and two beautiful others, Jessica Johnson and Errica Cusolito, who combined gifted her six grandchildren: Holly, Alexis, Kelly, Ellie, Cannon, and the newest addition, Lana, all of whom have brought untold happiness to Leng. But it is her loving husband Jeff, whom she married in 1986, three years after arriving in the U.S., with whom she shared her joy as a homemaker, seamstress as well as shared his success in the federal and military service for 28 years. Her hard work and tenacity for perfection showed in every area of her life, including her battle to survive cancer, and were passed on to her proud family, who know in their hearts that although she may not have been ready to leave us, God was calling her home and they will one day all be reunited in Heaven.
Till we meet again, Leng – Mommy, Sister, Wife, Grandma – your heart was truly made of gold and you will be missed beyond words.
