Michael Miller's Obituary
Michael Miller (85) a resident of San Bernardino for over 50 years, entered into rest on September 16, 2012. Mike was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 905, and a very active member of St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church and School where he taught catechism and
was the football coach. Mike also volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader. Mike played football for Santa Clara College where he attended, and was part of the team that won the Orange Bowl in 1950 defeating the Kentucky Wildcats. Mike served in the U.S. Marine Corps. and saw action both in WWII and Korea. He was a Mill worker at Big Bear Timber Co. for 17 years, then worked maintenance for the San Bernardino City Unified School District until he retired.
Mike was an unforgettable giant of a man, not only to his family, but to the community and his friends. He was a great father and a loving husband to his wife Ysidra. His loyalty and wonderful sense of humor endeared him to all who met him. Notre Dame has lost its biggest fan.
Mike is survived by his children, Sherrill Miller (Lenny Jimenez), Daniel Miller (Mary Helen Castillo), and Thomas Francis Miller ( Deann Caldera); grandchildren, Angelica, Geovanni, Vanessa, Daniel Jr., Victoria, Thomas Jr., Ashely, Albert, Rebecca, Steven Michael, Michael Kingsley; great-grandchildren, Christopher Jr., Matthew, Malia, Kash, Isaiah; brothers and sisters in law, Johnny Marquez, Daniel Marquez, Jumba Marquez, Bertha Pedroza, Mercy Medina, Connie Chavez, Julia Macias, Andie Escarrega, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Ysidra Miller and his son Steven Michael Miller and his in-laws, Bernie Marquez, Jessie Juarez, Keto Rodriguez, and Christina Leal.
