KENNETH EUGENE OLSON's Obituary
Kenneth Olson, retired Major in the USAF, was born in Bruno, Minnesota, on January 30, 1925, to Frank and Ida Olson. Ken was the youngest of five children and was brought up on the family farm. He entered the Military in 1943, serving in WWII as a navigator and retiring from the Air Force in 1964. He met the love of his life, Aileene Murphy, and they were married on December 22, 1945. He worked as an engineer for the California Department of Transportation beginning in 1964 until his retirement in 1989. Following his retirement he participated in the US Forest Service Fire Lookout Program. Ken and Aileene were the proud parents of five children; Kenneth Olson II, of Minnesota; Richard Olson, of Highland; Frank Olson (deceased); Carolyn Cloud, of San Bernardino; and Thomas Olson of Beaumont. He has 9 adoring grandchildren; Trisha Olson, Tim Olson, Heather Hecker, Sean Keays, Erica Cloud, Jeremy Olson, Kristen Cloud, Alyson Cloud and Noel Olson; and 6 great-grandchildren. He passed from this mortal life on February 24th, 2009, and was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers and sister, son Frank, and his beloved wife. He loved sailing, playing pinochle and canasta, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with his family and pets. Friends and family are invited to the viewing to be held on Monday, March 2, from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue in San Bernardino, and funeral services will be held beginning at 10:00 am on Tuesday, March 3, at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church (previously St. Ann’s), 6885 Del Rosa Avenue in San Bernardino on the corner of Del Rosa and Pacific Avenues. A private interment will follow at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
