KENNETH HARDING MANN's Obituary
Kenneth Harding Mann, 88, of San Bernardino, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 5, 2009 after a valiant fight against bladder and lung cancer. He died peacefully at home. Born in Dayton, Ohio Feb. 19, 1921, Ken graduated from Holy Cross High School in Covington, Kentucky and attended San Francisco Jr. College. He served 4 years in the Marine Corps and was assigned to the 1st Marine Division where he spent 2 yrs in the South Pacific and participated in the Guadalcanal Campaign. Ken was an independent insurance adjuster under the name K.H. Mann Insurance Adjusters and after 30 yrs. he took in a partner and changed the name to Mann and Kason Insurance Adjusters.
Ken retired in Feb of 1988 and enjoyed fishing, golf, square dancing, trailering, gardening and being with his family.
Ken and Mary helped plant Christ’s Church where he served on the Steering Committee and ushered.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Mary, his son, Retired Marine Col. Rodney C. Mann, daughter Holly G. Balfour, 2 grandchildren Erik Mann and Danelle Balfour, 2 brothers, Wallace and Richard Mann both of San Bernardino, 2 sisters Toni Vincent of Cathedral City and Patricia Keating of San Pedro and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be Thursday Oct. 8, 2009 at 10:00a.m. at the Highland Congregation Church, 3606 E. Atlantic Ave., Highland with a luncheon to follow. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:30p.m. at Mt. View Cemetery 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino.
