KATHARYN EMILIE MYERS BUSSEY's Obituary
Kay was born in Stockton, CA to William F. and Frances Hassey Myers, but grew up in Santa Barbara, CA. She attended school there, earning her teaching degree at Santa Barbara State College, now UCSB, in 1934. It was depression time, and jobs were hard to come by, but she was able to work as a kindergarten teacher in San Bernardino. It was there she met and married Kenneth C. Bussey in 1937. They lived in many southern California cities during the war years and their 3 children (Ann, Ken and Nancy) were born before they returned to San Bernardino in 1945. A 60-year member of San Bernardino Assistance League, Kay enjoyed travel, crossword puzzles, music, playing the piano (by ear) and summer on Balboa Island with her family. Kay also enjoyed daily walks, her scripture class and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Nancy Moughan (Terry) in l994, and her husband Kenneth Bussey in 2000. Survivors include son, Ken Bussey Jr, Riverside, CA, daughter, Ann Kuoppamaki (Henrik) and grandchildren: Julie Flohr (Mike) and Ted Kuoppamaki, all of Seattle, WA and Sarah, Amy and Patrick (Becky) Moughan of San Francisco, CA. Great grandchildren include Amelia, Sophia, Ben and Jake Flohr of Seattle, WA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday December 1, 2007 at 11:00AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, 2525 N. Arrowhead Ave., San Bernardino, CA where Kay was an active parishioner for over 60 years.
