Karolyn Yarnell's Obituary
Karolyn Hoffman Yarnell, (85) was born in South Pasadena in 1926 and passed away at her home in Highland on January 18, 2012. She was a 75 year resident of the San Bernardino area and attended Highland Jr. High School before graduating San Bernardino High School in 1943. Subsequently she graduated with an Associates Degree in Nursing from San Bernardino Valley College. She worked in Pediatrics as a Registered Nurse with Dr. William H Wilson M.D. for over 20 years and after that at the Blood Bank.
Karolyn was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church for years and sang in the choir there. She also participated in the American Baptist Women and served in the board of Home of Neighborly Service and the Calvary Baptist Church School Nursery Board. She also belonged to the Highland Women’s Club and planned High School Reunions for the San Bernardino High Reunion Committee.
Karolyn was a hard working woman and loved working in the yard, reading, crocheting, camping, and raising her family. She possessed a true and caring love for children. She sometimes mentioned that the reason God kept her around for all these years was to spend time with her Grandkids.
Karolyn is survived by her daughters; Karen (Jim) Hardin, and Kathy (Ron) Roberts; her son, Michael (Sandra) Hoffman; Step-daughter, Evelyn (John) Yarnell-Valles; grandchildren, Steve (Letty) Hardin, Julie (Desi) Arellano, Brian (Rosie) Roberts, Melissa (Jon) Wheeler; and Seven great-grandchildren.
Karolyn was preceded in death by her son David Hoffman; 1st husband Harold Hoffman Jr.; second husband Warren Wood; and finally remarried to Donald Yarnell who passed in 2006.
A Memorial Service will be held for Karolyn at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012 at 10:00 AM with a private interment later at Mt. View Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held at the West Clubhouse at Valencia Lee Mobile Home Park for Karolyn on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 11:30 AM.
