Joyce Ann Marion's Obituary
Joyce Ann Marion passed on to our Lord on Friday, August 14, 2020 after a nearly two-year battle with lung cancer.
Joyce is survived by her spouse, David Marion; her Daughter, Brandy Marion; and her grandkids, Ty Marion, and Jennifer Jaramillo. She is also survived by her Mother, Norma Cain; and her sister Shirley Hoch who is two years older.
Joyce was born, Joyce Ann Cain, at St. Bernardine Hospital in San Bernardino, CA on April 15, 1953. She graduated from Eisenhower High School in Rialto, CA in 1971. She married David, a flight engineer stationed at Norton AFB, on February 24, 1973.
Joyce was always active - she played racquetball when younger and bowled throughout her life. She served several years on the San Bernardino Salvation Army Advisor Board and as the Board Chair in 1991-1992. When daughter Brandy was in T-Ball and softball leagues, she served as an assistant coach. She was particularly proud of her work at the City of San Bernardino. It was at this time that she worked in the emergency services department and provided information to the public on emergency (including earthquake) preparedness. She accomplished her contact with the public by giving presentations to various nonprofit organizations, community groups, and school classrooms. She made lifelong friends during this time.
Joyce was a long-time blood donor – at last count she donated over 10 gallons of blood!
Joyce loved traveling and has traveled: To the North – Alaska; East – Turkey; South – Antigua; West – Hawaii; and a lot of stops in-between. She will regret, a little, that she did not make it to all United States – she did make it to 30 states and the District of Columbia, which is pretty good.
A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00am September 17, 2020 at Lutheran Church of Our Savior (LCOS), 5050 North Sierra Way, San Bernardino, CA 92404. Due to Covid-19 there will be restrictions on number of attendees, so we will live-stream and record the service. Please plan on joining us via live-stream. The family will make that information available. Donations may be given to LCOS, or a charity of your choice, in Joyce’s name.
