JOYCE RAYLENE LINDSEY It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our remarkable wife, mother and “our Nannie”. Joyce, 78, born and lived her entire life in San Bernardino. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Walt “Hawkeye” Lindsey, daughter Stacy Hobbs, granddaughter Ashley (Richard) Berckley, great-grandsons Chase, Hunter, Bentley, Landon and Matthew, grandson James Hobbs (Wendy), great-grandson Damian. She was preceded by her son, Matthew Hobbs, and her parents Raymond Mayer and Dorothy Knauss. Joyce retired from Disney as a cast member after ten years. She helped open the Disney Store in Riverside’s Tyler Mall and the Inland Center Mall in San Bernardino. It was during this time that she became infatuated with Disney and “anything Disney”. This included many, many trips to Disneyland with the grandkids. Joyce and Hawkeye raised Ashley and James and it was a real joy to do. She helped Ashley with her boys and wanted so much to see Chase graduate high school next year. Her great-grandsons were her life. She loved them so much, from five years old to seventeen. Joyce’s greatest adventures were “cruising”. She and Hawkeye went on the inaugural Disney Cruise in 1998 with her very special friend Diane and her husband Bob. That opened the door for more adventure. Her and Diane were friends for 30 years and cruised for 25 of those. Joyce just completed her 34 cruise in May with Diane to Spain and Portugal. It was Disney’s 25th Anniversary of cruising. She always said cruising across the Atlantic was the chance of a lifetime. She did it more than once. She went to so many beautiful places. The British Isles, France, Hawaii, Alaska (four times),Japan, Mexico, and the Caribbean (several times). Her favorite was from Florida to California thru the Panama Canal, which she did a couple of times. Her cruising partners, Diane, Bobbie, and Nancy brought great joy to her. She cruised on every Disney ship. Joyce never met a stranger and would do anything to help anyone. There were many times she would receive a phone call from someone who was down on there luck or could be staying in one of California’s institutions. Joyce would always try to be there to talk to them and give them a kind word. This was always the same with animals. Many times Joyce would come home with a stray dog or cat. She would always say “I couldn’t leave it”. All her animals, cats and dogs, were rescued. The animals knew they were in a loving home. Joyce’s infectious smile and great sense of humor endeared her to many friends. She was very happy when she was with her Disney connoisseur. Her Friends of the Mouse and her Once Upon a Classic clubs brought her so much joy. Her anticipation each month for the meeting was something else! She always said that if she ever needed to know anything about Disney, these two clubs had the answers. They were her closest friends and too many to name. She knows that during these last few months that she received many prayers and good thoughts for her recovery from members of both clubs. She would be giving many extra thanks and I love you to Eric, Barbara, Nancy, Rosalie, Joanne, Daniel, Judi, Steve, Leslie, Peter, Ginger, Donna, Gary, Debbie, Mary, Ann, Kay, Steve, Richard, and Doug. Joyce will be deeply missed by her family and the many who received her generous support, friendship and loving care. A private service just for the immediate family will held at a later date.
