Josephine J. Smith was born to Amalia Imperial and Albert Trujillo on Dec. 1, 1916 in Perris, CA. She had a brother Edward who died in 1984. Josephine grew up in San Bernardino and graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1935. She married William F. Smith of Alva, OK on August 24, 1941. She is survived by her two daughters Sandra Bradley of Litchfield Park, AZ and Marilyn (Donald) Holtz of West Covina, CA, 5 grandchildren Patrick Driscoll, Timothy (Susan) Driscoll, William (Valerie) Holtz, Anne (Jeffrey)Labuda, and Sara R. Holtz, 8 great grandchildren Joel (Kiley) Driscoll, Saxon Labuda, Brenton Driscoll, Tabatha Labuda, Chad Driscoll, Edward Holtz, Danica Labuda and Skylie Labuda. Josephine was a descendant of the Trujillo family who came to San Bernardino in 1842 from Abiqui, New Mexico. They were hired to work on the ranchos owned by the Lugos and Sepulvedas. She was a member of the Pioneer Historical Society of San Bernardino County. Josephine retired from the County of San Bernardino where she worked as a library clerk. Jo was a devoted Catholic and was very active in her church. She sang in the choir for several decades and was a long time member of Catholic Daughters Court 1305. Josephine was loved by many and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of the wonderful nurses and caring staff at Citrus Valley Hospice. Jo had a special love for her nurse case manager Dawn Handy Manus. We would, also, like to thank the staff of Summit View Care Home for the loving atmosphere and gentle care given to her especially in her last days.
