Josephine James Castillo's Obituary
Josephine James Castillo long-time resident of San Bernardino and Grand Terrace, California, died surrounded by her family on June 26, 2015. She was 88 years old. For many years she was a member of Saint Andrew’s Newman Center at U.C.Riverside and a volunteer for, and member of, the Lighthouse for the Blind in San Bernardino.
She was born during the depression to a large Italian family of 24 children, 21 of whom lived into adulthood. She attended the Louisiana State School for the Blind and won the Louisiana State Piano Competition for Expressive Interpretation. She is survived by her brothers, Carlo, Rhodes, and Vincent James.
She married Ernest Vigil Castillo in 1949 and raised 5 children, Darlene, Vicky, Steve, Ron, and Linda; and has three grandchildren, Sharon, Debbie, and Simon, three great great grandchildren and a great,great, great granddaughter.
She was a good friend and a wonderful wife and a devoted mother. She created a loving home for her children and grandchildren and she will be missed for her generosity, her goodness, and the love she gave to her family. Viewing will be at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 5:00pm.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Andrews Newman Center 105 W. Big Springs Rd. Riverside, Ca 92407 at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2015 followed by internment at Riverside National Cemetery Staging area 4 at 11:45
