Joseph Perea Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph Perea was born February 14, 1949, in Barstow, California to Amador and Sally Perea. Joseph passed away on January 7, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Joseph’s ancestors were part of the Original Spanish Sephardic Jews that settled the New Mexico Colony in 1593. Joe was a Veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He became part of the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department family in 1972, working as a deputy sheriff at Glen Helen and Barstow. He promoted to Detective in 1977, where he continued to work out of the Barstow Substation and was promoted to Sergeant in 1980. As a Sergeant he worked out of Barstow Substation, Central Station and Rancho Cucamonga Station. He then became an official retiree in 2004.
Joe is survived by his beloved love Yolanda Lopez, his brother Amador Perea Jr, sister Shirley Gabrick, ex-wife Rose Mary Licata, daughters Michele Herrera and Denise Ramirez, son Joseph Perea, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be held the following day on February 1, 2023, at Riverside National Cemetery 11:00 am
