JOHN JOSEPH HARNITCHEK's Obituary
John J. Harnitchek, 86, of Highland, CA passed away on October 19, 2009 with his loving wife at his side. Originally from Philadelphia John had lived in Highland for the last 44 years. He was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force for 26 years and after his retirement kept himself busy with many projects. He was a long time member of St. Adelaide’s Church in Highland. He travelled extensively, but what he loved most was spending time with his family.
John was preceded in death by his eldest son John J. Harnitchek Jr.
He is survived by Lillian his loving wife of almost 59 years and his children Karen Harnitchek of Redlands, Mary-Ann Nuesse (Bill) of Huntington Beach, Victoria Scheffler (Brent) of Santa Margarita, Christine Cook (David) of Perris, Paul Harnitchek (Rosa) of Highland, Laura Pourroy (Rick) of Winchester, Douglas Harnitchek (Martha) of Calimesa, Celia Wise (Bill) of Highland, and Bryan Harnitchek (Melisa) of San Bernardino, his brother Harry (Irene) of Philadelphia, and his daughter in law Joan Harnitchek of Scottsdale, AZ. Also surviving him are his 22 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and many friends.
A visitation will be held Thursday October 29, from 5-7 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA 92404. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday October, 30th at St. Adelaide Church, Baseline, Highland CA at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92518 Staging Area # 1 at 2 p.m.
