John August Brandenburg's Obituary
John August Brandenburg (84) of Yucaipa passed away on October 25, 2012 in Redlands, California. John was a 32 year teacher in the San Bernardino Unified School District, including Rialto Jr. High, Del Valejo Jr. High and San Gorgonio High School, as well as Missouri Valley High in Iowa. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force who served during the Korean War Period. John was confirmed at Charter Oak Lutheran School and attended Redlands Bible Church as well as the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Redlands.
John was born in an Iowa farm house near Charter Oak, Iowa. He received his Master’s Degree from Colorado State Teachers College, in Greeley and was an alumni of Wayne State College in Nebraska. John was a wonderful, loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather with a witty sense of humor. He enjoyed coaching girls’ softball in Rialto and at San Gorgonio High School. John loved wood working and refinishing antiques.
John is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley; children Mark (Julie) Brandenburg and Kim (Denny) Buskirk; sister, Louise Scherff; grandchildren, Holly, Amy, Heather, Connor, and Luke; great grandchild, Carter.
