Joanne Thelma Schmitz's Obituary
Joanne T. Schmitz (Joni) 3/23/1940 – 05/10/2023 She was born and passed at St. Bernardine Hospital in San Bernardino, California. She was preceded in death by her parents Lewis Stones and Marjorie Schmitz. She graduated from Pacific High school and then went to work for The Broadway at the Inland Center Mall as well as with San Bernardino County as a collection officer. After retirement she volunteered at St. Bernardines Hospital in Outpatient and Main Lobby. She was there for 10 years until the covid pandemic and was not able to return. This brought her much joy, and loved the people she worked with, everyone from the admitting ladies to the security force and the valets. She also received the best medical care when she was there and helped her to fight until the end. She was a big fan of the LA Rams and bigger fan of the California (Los Angeles) Angels where she loved to go to opening days. She is survived by her best friend and love of her life her daughter Terry Schmitz, Sister Judy Fildes, brothers Nelson Bertram and Richard Bertram and his wife Valentina many nieces and nephews and cousins. There is her adopted family Michael and Maggie Noriega and their two girls Miley and Melanie, Eric, and Judy Noriega and their two sons Eric and Matthew, Amanda, and Fernando Gamez and their two sons Fernando and Leonardo. Terrie Romo and her son Pete and Jasmine and Andrew Gilmer their two kids Libby and Chase and Moose and Jen Haro and their two kids AJ and Charlet She was blessed to be a part of their lives and accepted into the family and her biggest joy was being called Grandma and Great Grandma. Per her request there will not be any services and in lew of flowers please donate to any Cancer foundations to help fight the thing that she couldn’t fight.
