Well that explains why she hasen't returned my emails. I was expecting another shipment from her to consign. In fact I still have a small balance to pay her from her account. She and I shared a love for fountain pens and her collection was amazing. I have sold many fountain pens to her and have consigned many gorgeous fountain pens for her. She really enjoyed the hobby a great deal. She was the most active pen person I know. She loved her boy and his fantastic family and wonderful kids. She spoke of them in every email. I have known Janet for over 20 years and have worked with her off and on over those 20 years. We shared a Nascar Driver, Dale Jr & she would go on trips to Vegas or to see her son and she would out of the blue bring me a Dale Jr sovenior from her trip, not because she had to but she would see something that she knew I would like and bring it to work with her and give it to me to surprise me. She was so thoughtful, I just wish I could have told her how thankful I was before she left us so suddenly. In fact, several weeks before her passing she called me after work to make sure I got home from work safely (as we lived a couple of blocks from each other) because there was an accident & fire on our offramp and she was worried that I could have been in the accident because I would usually pass her on the freeway. I was really touched by that call & it made me realize that she is a very thoughtful & caring person. Just wish I could have told her that. And yes Eric, your mom loved her grandbabies with all her heart. When they are older please let them know what a great MOM, GRANDMOTHER & FRIEND she was. I met Janet when I was 16 and she was 17; she offered to punch me out, thinking that I was trying to make move on Jack Duggins, Erik's dad.

Since I was a runt and would never outrun her, I dropped my books and put my fists up, she laughed at me.

Later we slogged our way across Mtn View during summer rainstorms, we picnic'ed in Little Mtn park, we crusied guys' houses (and got caught), we went to the beach; thru high school, bad perms and worse boyfriends, college, jobs, weddings, baby sitting her baby boy, shopping, and collectibles (Lladro!).

She laughed at me and believed in me and gave me something I hope I was able to give her a bit of as well, knowing I had a hell or highwater friend.

I'm going to miss our b'day phone calls, miss her at the sneaker paintings and tupperware/bloody mary parties.

What I won't miss: her laugh, I can clearly hear her laugh.

I wish to extend my condolences to Janet's family. I left Wells in the year 2002, so I didn't have the honor of knowing Janet, but I can tell from everything I have heard, that she was one special lady. God bless the family left behind to mourn her. Hey Erik and family, Never ever forget to laugh, as you cry. Your Mother/GrandMother was a HOOT!! She loved y'all as all Mothers should, from the deepest part of her Heart. Keep her always on your right shoulder and speak to and about her everyday. For she is not gone, she is still here in our hearts forever. She only waits at Heaven's Gate, for the rest of us to arrive, when it is our time to do so. Although I didn't know her personally, I did see her quite a bit in passing. For 2 strangers in passing; she ALWAYS was very friendly and always said hello. That is a rare quality in people these days and I will miss seeing her in passing knowing I would always be greeted with a friendly smile and a hello! Janet was truly one of a kind. I'm still very much in shock that I will never see her walk down the aisles in the office again. She was very thoughful of all of our needs relating to work. She would drop everything she was doing if you were in need of something. She always spoke fondly of her son and grandsons. They truly were the light of her life. I enjoyed knowing Janet and will always remember her thoughtful ways. I'm thankful that I had a chance to know her and to share in her life if even for just a few moments. my deepest condelences to the Duggins family, my prayers are with you. It will be hard to work and sit in our little "cul-de-sac" (as we called it) work area knowing that when i look to my left, she won't be there. Janet was always thoughtful and sweet. one day out of the blue, she gave a gift for my son. she said she was shopping for her grandbabies and thought of my son too. i was so touched. she would always ask how my babies were doin,she had only seen them in pictures and i regret that they never got the chance to meet. i will trully miss her and her expert advice when i come to the dilemma of shopping for a pen, she really knows her stuff.
