James Willard Monninger's Obituary
J. Willard Monninger, 93 of San Bernardino, CA , passed away at his home on Jan. 19, 2011. He was born on July 10, 1917 in Ottawa, Kansas and came to San Bernardino in 1920 at the age of 3. He retired from Security Pacific National Bank in 1980 after a 45 year banking career, the last 24 years as a branch manager.
Willard dedicated his adult years to volunteering and making San Bernardino a better place. He was involved with many community organizations including; Kiwanas Club (53 year member), San Bernardino Community Scholarship Association, City Library Foundation, Chairman of S.B. H.S Oldtimer’s Group, Secretary-Treasurer of Friends of the Arrowhead, former board member of the American Red Cross, the Mental Health Association, Concert Association, and an 82 year member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church.
Willard was preceded in death in 1997 by his wife of 57 years, Norma Monninger. He is survived by his daughters; Carole Manderson (Bill) of La Mesa, CA, Suzy Clem (Gary) of Riverside, CA and Cathy Faust (Dave) of Highland, CA, eight grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren as well as his dear friend, Evelyn Young and many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wed., Jan 26 at 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, 785 N Arrowhead Ave., San Bernardino, 92401.
