James E. McGinty's Obituary
James Edward McGinty Sr., 94 of San Bernardino, passed away on June 4, 2011 from natural causes. A 54 year resident of San Bernardino, he was born in South Fork PA and raised in St. Michael, PA. He served in the US Army from 1941-44 when he was medically discharged. Jim met Bertha Mack from Seward, PA in 1938; they were married in 1943 until she passed away in 1993. After the war they moved to Cleveland OH where Jim began a 30 year career with the US Postal Service, retiring in 1977.
He is survived by his children James Jr. (Wanda) of Highland CA and Pattie McGinty Hagedorn (Michael) of Cathedral City, CA. He has four grandchildren, Brian Boatman, Lori Laine, and Staci Betty all of Highland and Scott Boatman of Kealia Kauai. Jim was also blessed with six great grandchildren, Aaron and Laurel Boatman, Chad and Summer Betty and CJ and Meredith Laine all of Highland. Also surviving him are his sisters in law Genevieve Stercho of Seward, PA and Alice McGinty of St. Michael, PA and a host of nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 796 W 48th Street, San Bernardino, CA Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady of Assumption at the above address.
