Jim was a very important person in my past. We spent a lot of time together in high school. I always Ioved visiting with his dear mom, Josephine, one of the most wonderful people I have ever known. My heart breaks for his mom and his son at this difficult time. I know that Jim meant the world to them. I'm so sorry I didn't know about his passing until after the service. I would definitely have been there to pay tribute to a very good man.
Jim was a wonderful longtime friend. He spent time at my house during high school and Valley College. He often played golf with my dad, sometimes being late for the tee time and my dad would cuss him out and then make plans for another golf day. We spent a lot of time on the phone because he was a good listener and often gave me good advice. We often met for lunch before he got ill. I will miss our conversations. Jim was a great man with a heart as big as his smile. My God bless his mother and son at this difficult time. He spoke of both of them often and I know how much he loved them. Lots of love, Lynell
Jim was one of my dearest, closest friends. I met him and his son Jimmy at about the same time when I was the Head Golf Professional at Calimesa Country Club, located in Calimesa, CA. Jim wanted me to teach young Jimmy how to play golf, and I was immediately impressed at the closeness of this father and son. Over the next 6 or seven years I was honored to teach Jimmy, and drew closer to my good friend Jim. I even had him work with me at my pro shop, replacing grips, building clubs, playing golf, and having a friendly drink together. Jim was ALWAYS honest with me, a trait which I really liked. He also continually bragged about his son, Jimmy, and how proud he was of his young son. I will always be proud to call Him Hines my friend, and Heaven is a little better with his presence.
