JAMES SCOTT CUNDIFF's Obituary
Scott Cundiff, 47, Counselor at Arroyo Valley High School, died on Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Mountains Community Hospital He was born July 22, 1959 in Kittery, Maine to parents Dr. J. Stuart & C. Jeanette Cundiff. Most of Scott’s early years were spent living abroad with his family in Turkey. He attended Hartnell College where he obtained his A.S., and Azusa Pacific University where he obtained a B.A. in History. After completing his undergraduate studies he returned to complete an M.S. in Education and Counseling. Scott proudly served in the Coast Guard, the Army, and was a member of an elite firefighting team known as the “Bear Divide Hotshots”. He was also the owner/operator of “Mountain Lakes Guide Service”. In 1990 Scott moved to Running Springs and began working for San Bernardino City Schools. He started his career working as a teacher at Monterey Elementary, Curtis Middle School, and Pacific High School. In an attempt to help more students Scott transferred to Sierra High School (2002) accepting a position as Counselor. In 2003 Scott transferred to Arroyo Valley High School. He enjoyed home improvement projects, woodworking, and especially was happiest when he was on his boat fishing. Scott is survived by his loving companion, Rachel; his parents, Dr. J. Stuart & C. Jeanette Cundiff of Columbus, Indiana; his brother, Andrew Cundiff of Amarillo, Texas; his sister, Rebecca Moss of Columbus, Indians. He is further survived by 8 nephews, 6 nieces, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral services for Scott will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino, California.
