JACK N. SOWERS's Obituary
Jack N. Sowers of Oak Hills, CA and former San Bernardino resident, passed peacefully from this life Sunday October 22, 2006 in Victorville, CA. Jack was 86 years old and is survived by his daughter, Patricia “Lee” Sowers and two “Best Buddies”, Gidget and Ozzie all of Oak Hills, CA. Jack was born December 21, 1919 in San Bernardino. He was preceded in death by his wife Jayne L. Sowers in 1969 and his parents, Joseph P. and Maggie Sowers. He graduated from San Bernardino High School and later Chaffey College with a degree in Engineering to become a licensed Land Surveyor and also served time in the United States Navy. Jack retired from CM Engineering at the age of 70. Over the years, Jack lived in the following communities: San Bernardino, Running Springs, Oceanside, Redlands and Oak Hills. Mr. Sowers was past president of the Arrowhead Country Club. During the time he held the position as president of ACC, he also was the Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, San Bernardino Lodge # 836. Jack was an avid sports fan and had a great love for golf, cars and racing, both as a participator and spectator. He previously worked in the “pits” at the Indy 500 and his favorite football team was the Oakland Raiders. He was a wonderful father, man and human being with a kind soul who always remained constant in the areas of honesty, ethics, generosity and respect for others. He will truly be missed and remembered by his family and all that knew him. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino. Interment to follow at Montecito Memorial Park, Colton.
