J. Russell 'Buddy' Bobbitt
Born in Loma Linda, Russ passed away on June 14, 2017, in San Bernardino at the age of 85. A lifetime resident of San Bernardino, Russ graduated from San Bernardino High School and California College of Mortuary Science. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and then joined the family business of Stephens and Bobbitt with his grandfather and father. In 1964 he opened Bobbitt Memorial Chapel with his brother, Gary Bobbitt at the current location on East Highland Avenue where he worked until his retirement. Russ and Gary were the third (currently now four) generation family business, serving San Bernardino families at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel. Russ also held a private pilot’s license.
Russ was preceded in death by his wife Nancy.
He is survived by his two sons Kenneth (Jill) of Beaumont; David (Evelyn) of Colton; daughter Karen (Bill) Holben of Dallas, Oregon; brother Gary (Patricia) of San Bernardino; four grandchildren, Kerry, Andy, Evan, and Evie; niece and nephew.
