Irmi and Hugo were friends and fellow jewelers to my parents Ruline and Bill Junkin (Smith Jewelers). I remember Irmi so well, knowing her since I was a girl, and always her smile and welcoming nature. She shared a passion for the jewelry industry with my father, serving with him at CJA and other industry organizations. And, she served as a wonderful ambassador for the jewelry industry, and as a role model for women in the jewelry business. Dear Sonja and family,
Oh, my! What a special beautiful friend Irmi has been. Since she moved away I was sad not to be able to see her, but she has always been in my thoughts and prayers. I took her to my high school several times to speak to our students about her experiences as she told them about Kristallnacht and how she and Hugo narrowly escaped being being victims of the Holocaust. We enjoyed going to lunch together and once when my mom was visiting I took her to meet Irmi at lunch. I have so many beautiful memories of my vibrant vivacious friend and I expect to see her again in heaven one day.
May God bless and comfort all of you as you remember Irmi's love for you all and her full life that she gave to our community for as long as she lived here.
