HOWARD F. HILL's Obituary
Howard Francis Hill, 86, beloved husband and loving father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2007, in Loma Linda, California. He was born to Frank and Margaret Hill in Caruthers, California, on July 25, 1920 and when he was 4 years old, his family moved to Rialto. He was a resident of San Bernardino for 66 years. He attended San Bernardino High School where he met his future wife, Virginia Frost, who was known by all as Frosty. They married May 11, 1941. Howard volunteered to serve in the United States Navy in 1943 on the USS Zeilin, a troop transport carrier which was stationed in the South Pacific arena until he was honorably discharged in May of 1945. He was classified as a Boatswain’s Mate First Class. After returning to San Bernardino, he began his life-long work career at Weber Baking Company. He was a highly admired and respected employee of that company for 40 years and he retired in 1976 as supervisor of the Southern California Bakery Company. Howard loved to fish at Big Bear Lake where he and his family vacationed for over 15 years and enjoyed the mountains and houseboat vacations on Lake Shasta. He was an avid bowler for over 20 years and was a member of several bowling leagues in the area. But above all, he loved his family and was a dedicated husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Frosty), his daughters Janice Rognlie Dauss of San Bernardino, and Kathryn Dianne Nichols of San Diego; two grandchildren, Chris Rognlie and Kathryn Sage Nichols. He was preceded in death by his brother, Leland Hill and his sister, Maxine Noble. A memorial service will be held for Howard on Saturday, July 14, 2007, at 11 o’clock in the morning at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Avenue, San Bernardino. A reception will follow the chapel service.
