HELEN J. PETERSON's Obituary
Helen J Peterson, 88 passed away peacefully at home on April 16, 2007. Helen was a beloved wife, mother sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed. Helen was born Helen Leah Johnson on July 4, 1918 to Raymond T. and Maude (Tilghman) Johnson in Webster City, Iowa. Her childhood home was in Williams, Ia. In 1936 she moved with her family to San Bernardino she attended San Bernardino Valley College and later worked as a dental assistant. Helen met her husband of 62 years , Chester A. Peterson at the Hotel California in San Bernardino when he was there celebrating his promotion to Captain in the U.S. Army Air Corps, stationed at George AFB. They married May 26, 1943 in Orlando, Florida then settled back in San Bernardino to raise their family. Chester preceded Helen in death on May 16, 2005. Helen is survived by her three daughters and sons in law: Sandy and Tom Winn of Upland, Kristin Peterson of Rancho Cucamonga, Julie and Tom Maier of Running Springs, Grandsons Todd Peterson, Jeff Maier, Kevin Maier, granddaughter Kara Bosket, 12 great grandchildren, sister Glen Hancock of Escondido, 2 Nephews, 2 Nieces, and caregivers, Debbie, Ana, and Jennifer and numerous beloved friends. Services will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 11:00 am at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E Highland Ave., San Bernardino followed by a reception in the Bobbitt Courtyard Chapel and then Committal/burial service at 2:00 pm at Riverside National Cemetery 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, Staging Area #1In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Helen’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
