Helen was a inspiration to the young women of my generation. I remember meeting her when I attended high school with Susi. Not too much later on, during the Viet Nam war, I also became friends with Steve. Susi, Tammy, and I roomed together just as Tammy became two years old. That is when my relationship with Helen began to develop. I remember that she would come around to visit, and to sometimes pick Tammy up for the weekend. Helen was very beautiful, and always elegantly dressed in a sophisticated manner. A woman of good taste - that was my first impression of her. Over the years, I did not see her regularly, but when I did ring to inquire about Susi, or when I called in to say hello, she always remembered who I was. She made a real effort to show interest in my life. As has been mentioned, her love of reading was apparent, her home was tasteful. In a time when few women were self-reliant, she proved what women were capable of doing. Thank you Helen for the time that you spent with us. Thank you for the ispiration that you have been to us. It has been a pleasure knowing you. I now send my love to Susi, Steve, Cindy, Tammy, Olive, and to their loved ones. Your mother, grandmother, sister-in-law, and all that she was to all of you is still with you, but you know that. ##imported-begin##Sharon Williams-Hughes##imported-end##
