Mrs Helen Goritz's Obituary
Helen Goritz, 100, passed away on January 18, 2017, at her residence in San Bernardino, CA. Born in Narantza, Greece, Helen came to the United States after WWII in 1947 with her late husband Angelo, at age 31. She has lived in the San Bernardino area for over 60 years. Her main role in life was a homemaker and mother to her three sons and stepdaughter. She has been a long time active member of St. Prophet Elias, Greek Orthodox Church and the Philoptochos Society in which she was active. Helen loved to host parties and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed being a part of the Tuesday Women’s Poker Group. One of her greatest joys in life, however, was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Angelo.
She is survived by her stepdaughter Margaret Williams her three sons Spiro, John (Rose) and Michael (Lora) Goritz; her eighteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
A Trisagion will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at 7:00 p.m. at Bobbitt Memorial Chapel, 1299 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA. A church service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Prophet Elias Church, 1035 Inland Center Drive, Colton, CA followed by a graveside service at Mt. View Cemetery, 570 E. Highland Ave. San Bernardino, CA.
